Nigel Gibbens, UK Chief Veterinary Officer, declared disease freedom from H5N8 avian influenza on the 13th September. This allows market access discussions to reopen with our trading partners, and is relevant to spent hen export markets. Defra has sent the declaration to OIE and expects it to appear on their self-declaration page in due course alongside those of other countries.
