Worm Egg Count
McMaster’s is the method in which faeces are tested to check for worm egg counts (WEC) and numbers of coccidial oocysts. Coccidial oocyst counts are generally carried out in birds in rear. If carrying out the WEC the oocyst count will automatically be carried out at the same time and vice versa.
St David’s Laboratory at Nutwell Estate can carry out this testing.
- For each batch of birds, take samples in a separate plastic bag. Label with site name, house number, age of birds and date.
- Complete the submission form and send asap to the laboratory.
