Typically, most equipment, rearing sheds and runs will be left either in place or dismantled and stored over winter, though importantly in many cases, it will be done without a thorough cleaning having taken place. Therefore, whatever problems were experienced in the last flock are very likely to continue to contaminate the shed surfaces during the next.
We recommend thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting sheds following the 3Ds Protocol before putting them back together. Once the sheds are reconstructed and all drinker lines are in place, we recommend a final fogging with Interkokask or a product called Halamid as the gold standard approach. Whilst spraying disinfectant is effective in the areas where the chicks can reach and you can see, fogging will disinfect all surfaces of the shed where pathogens can be, that spraying doesn’t necessarily reach.
Our Field Services Technician, Dave Oram can provide a complete fogging service for your site, ensuring that your sheds are cleaned to the highest of standards before introducing chicks for the season.
