Tom says:
“Ever since I was young, I’d paint or sculpt animals, and I also had an aptitude for biology. As I grew up, I combined my interest in animals and the science-led side, and knew that veterinary medicine was for me, going on to complete my degree at the Royal Veterinary College.
My interest in poultry really developed as part of my work experience at a layer farm, during my degree. It spurred me to take a closer look at the industry, that drove me to apply for a placement at St David’s Poultry team. During the that placement I really got to understand the positive, long-term relationships that this teams’ vets have with producers and game clients, versus the other sectors that I’d experienced, and was keen to be a part of.
It was also clear that a proactive approach to poultry health is at the heart of the St David’s approach, as well as continuing to drive innovation, that supports better bird health, welfare and performance.”
