As a recent graduate from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Matthew would firstly like to thank everyone he has met so far at St David’s for the warm welcome and support they have offered. Matthew has had an interest in poultry since childhood through keeping backyard chickens, ducks and quail. After admission to R(D)SVS he became interested in the clinical side of poultry work, initially after an EMS placement with St David’s, and later through a research project into feather pecking in free range layers which Barry supervised. Outside of the world of poultry Matthew is a keen mountain biker, skier and hillwalker. He enjoys (the occasional) long distance walks too and is looking to do the Tour of Mont Blanc when he gets the opportunity!
Matthew is based in Scotland, however he will be spending time at various St David’s branches to provide him with experience covering all aspects of layer, broiler and game bird work. In addition, Matthew is working towards an Applied Poultry Science MSc qualification.
